General Care Rules
- Remove before bathing, swimming or showering
- Remove before sleeping or exercising
- Avoid contact with liquids including water, sweat, perfume, lotions and creams
- Keep in a sealed bag or pouch when not wearing
- Clean gently using a silver polishing cloth
Silver Plated Jewellery
Silver plated jewellery has a fine layer of silver over a base metal. It is not waterproof and must be kept away from all liquids, including sweat, perfume, lotions and creams. Exposure to liquid can cause the plating to discolour and may cause the base metal to rust over time.
Sterling Silver Jewellery
Sterling silver is more durable than silver plated but still requires care. Avoid exposure to chlorine — swimming in a chlorinated pool will dull and damage sterling silver over time. Clean with a silver polishing cloth to restore shine.
Elasticated Jewellery
Elasticated rings, bracelets and anklets should always be rolled on and off rather than stretched over the finger, hand or foot. Pulling the elastic will cause it to stretch and weaken over time, shortening the life of the piece.
Storage
Store your jewellery in a sealed bag or pouch when not in use. Keeping pieces separate prevents scratching and reduces exposure to air, which can cause tarnishing.
Cleaning
Use a soft silver polishing cloth to gently buff your jewellery. Avoid chemical jewellery cleaners unless specifically stated as safe for silver plated items, as these can strip the plating.
